John L. (Jack) Larsen Leadership Recipient Announced ~ Gay Hughes~ 

Fremont County, WY – Leadership Fremont County (LFC) is proud to announce Gay Hughes as this year’s recipient for the John L. (Jack) Larsen Leadership Award presented by Leadership Fremont County.  The presentation of the award was held on June 3, 2010 in Lander, as a part of the graduation ceremonies for this year’s Leadership Fremont County graduating class.

 Gay Hughes is an exceptional candidate for the Larsen Leadership Award. Gay is very dedicated to the community of Riverton and over her years of involvement has taken on many roles that hold Riverton and Fremont County in a positive light both statewide and nationally. Some of Gay’s leadership roles include: 

  • HIV/AIDS trainer for the Wyoming Department of Education
  • American Red Cross HIV/AIDS instructor
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED/First aid instructor
  • Grant writer for the Wyoming Department of Education
  • Riverton School health coordinator
  • Healthy Learning and Healthy Living Grants
  • Hosted eight Foreign Exchange students in Riverton
  • Traveled worldwide with the Education Foundation for Foreign Study program
  • Involved since 1994 in various roles such as president of the Wyoming Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance
  • Riverton Key Club advisor
  • Active member of the Riverton Kiwanis club



     

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The John L. (Jack) Larsen Leadership Award was created as a means of publicly recognizing exemplary leadership in Fremont County.  Named for a legendary leader in Fremont County, it is hoped that recognizing the type of leadership emulated by Mr. Larsen will encourage new leaders to pick up where previous leaders have left off.

The John L. (Jack) Larsen Leadership award is an annual award of Leadership Fremont County that recognizes a Fremont County citizen for the visionary leadership, commitment and dedication to the people of his or her community, and to an individual who extends leadership values throughout the community. New recipients will be awarded each year in the early summer as a part of the Leadership program’s commencement exercises.  

Leadership Fremont County has completed six years of operation in its effort to develop and facilitate the civic involvement of the leadership in Fremont County.  Approximately 20 of the County’s emerging leaders have undergone the year-long curriculum to become a Leadership Fremont County alumnus. The LFC Board of Directors would like to congratulate this year’s graduates.

 

John L. (Jack) Larsen Leadership Recipient Announced ~ Howard Johnson ~

Fremont County, WY – Leadership Fremont County (LFC) is proud to announce Howard M. Johnson as this year’s recipient for the John L. (Jack) Larsen Leadership Award presented by Leadership Fremont County.  The presentation of the award was held on May 28, 2008 in Lander, as a part of the graduation ceremonies for this year’s Leadership Fremont County graduating class.

Named for a legendary leader in Fremont County, it is hoped that recognizing the type of leadership emulated by Mr. Larsen will encourage other leaders to pick up where other leaders have left off.  The John L. (Jack) Larsen Leadership award is an annual award of Leadership Fremont County that recognizes a Fremont County citizen for the visionary leadership, commitment and dedication to the people of his or her community, and to an individual who extends leadership values throughout the community. Mr. Johnson has been active in professional and community activities throughout his life. A few are listed below: 

  • Charter member and Board of Directors for 26 years on the Wyoming Solid Waste and recycling Association.
  • Member and Chairman of the Riverton Planning Commission for 23 years.
  • Member for 30 years and Board of Directors for 7 years on the American Consulting Engineers Council of Wyoming
  • Member for 24 years and Board of Directors for 8 years in the Riverton Rotary Club.
